KUARI PASS TREK OVERVIEW
Kuari Pass trek in Garhwal Hiamalayas in Uttarakhand – famously (and fondly) known as the Lord Curzon trail – is a classic trek meandering through the Nanda Devi National Park and Biospehere Reserve. The trek gives you a upfront view of Greater Himalayan range as you witness some of the towering Indian peaks like - Nanda Devi, Haathi-Ghori (Elephant and Mare), Dronagiri, Changbang and Trishul to name a few. The trek also takes you to some very remote villages of India and hence a great opportunity to witness the art & culture of Himalayan denizens. The pristine forests of Oakwood, Rhododendron and Pine with flourishing population of Himalayan wildlife - like Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard and Snow Leopard makes Kuari Pass trek a delight for nature lovers.

Trek Day 1
The trek starts in the afternoon from Auli – a popular skiing destination in winter. Auli offers a spectacular meadow and our last site to have a cup of tea from a shop. After a small hike to Tower 10 of the rope-way we gently climb towards the temple of Padiyar Devta. Few steps away from the temple is the base camp where we camp for the night. There are two army shelters there as well and can be utilized by camping group.
Trek Day 2
Today we trek upwards through the pristine meadow with classic view of famous mountains. A clear view of the Hathi Ghori mountain, the Doonagiri Range as well as the famous Nanda Devi peak far in the valley comes along the Trek. After a steep hike for a few kM we reach Gorson pass – a narrow trail that guides one closer to the Kuari pass corridor. Once Gorson pass is finished we reach Taali – where there is a small pond being used by wild animals. Base camp in Taali is surrounded by forest and offers a tranquilizing effect.
Trek Day 3
After a refreshing night in Tali we start the day with a mission to trek slow and reach Khulara base camp (which is close to Gailgarh). It is today that you get into the actual corridor of Kuari Pass which is coming from southern side. Today we will also witness the Kuari Pass – with the flag goddess Kuari unfurled unto strong winds. Today we are close to 4300 meters above the sea level. This place gives a magnificent view where one finds snow clad mountains all around. We can opt to hike further up to Gailgarh or take the off-trail that leads to Khulara campsite.
